Once in a while lovable pop star and American Idol judge Paula Abdul spaces out , making us wonder what could be going on in the mind of such an intelligent woman.

Could it be the prescription drugs that she needs to take for her chronic pain treatment, or is it simply fatigue from a hectic work schedule?

This week Abdul surprised both the audience and contestants during the show when she gave feedback on singer Jason Castro’s first, and then second performance. The problem being that a second performance never took place. Castro had only sung one song.

Some viewers believe that this is proof that the American Idol show is rigged because Paula Abdul was reading from pre-written notes, comments judging a performance before it even took place.

Judges Randy Jackson and Simon Cowell quickly tried to smooth over the mistake, but left millions of viewers wondering just how genuine one of America’s favorite shows really is.

The state of Virginia was hit by a series of tornadoes yesterday, April 28, 2008, injuring 200 residents, killing 1, and destroying at least 140 homes.

The tornadoes passed through Suffolk, Colonial Heights, and the area near Lawrence, destroying property, vehicles, and businesses.

A Virginia wide state of emergency was announced as the three tornadoes ripped through neighborhoods, downing power lines and damaging anything in their path.

A day after the storm those in Virginia are left to clean up the aftermath. A huge task considering the amount of debris that the multiple  tornadoes created.

Miley Cyrus’ photo shoot with Vanity Affair is so provocative that when Entertainment Tonight broke the news many people believed it was a hoax .

But today Miley apologized to fans and claimed that she’s embarrassed by the final results of the photographs.

At only fifteen years of age she will appear topless with her chest covered by a blanket she holds.

Some bloggers are calling the picture kiddie porn, others are saying that she’s heading in the direction of celebrities like Lindsay Lohan and Britney Spears. The Vanity Affair photographer Annie Leibovitz, calls them “art .”

One thing is for sure Miley Cyrus sexy pictures are not only creating a huge buzz but also a huge debate. And some are questioning how it is that an underage teen could be put in this position in the first place.

The recent rescue of a woman who was held captive by her own father for 24 years is one of the worst cases of child abuse that I’ve ever heard of, so brutal in fact that’s it’s practically inconceivable.

A 42-year-old Austrian woman who has been missing since 1984 has finally been located by police thanks to a tip they recieved.

Since the age of 11 she has been held captive by her father who repeatedly raped and abused her, forcing her to mother seven of his children, all while locked in the cellar of her home.

It is a story of horror that has shocked not only Austrians but people from around the world.

Although not much is yet known about the children which range from ages 5 to 20 years of age, the 19 -year-old daughter is currently in hospital in serious condition.

A 66 year old man was killed today, Friday, April 25, after a great white shark attack occurred at Solana Beach, San Diego.

The victim, David Martin, was swimming alongside fellow triathlon members at 7:00 am when the shark suddenly shot up out the water fatally wounding the father of four.

Martin was 150 yards from the shore when the shark struck, and a marine expert has described such an event in the area as “practically unprecedented.”

The eight mile stretch of water between Torrey Pines State Beach and South Carlsbad has been closed for 72 hours.

Even though beach closure signs have been posted, some swimmers are choosing to ignore them.

Orlando Brown, who is well known for his role as Eddie on the hit television show “That’s So Raven” has been missing since the morning of Tuesday, April 22, 2008.

The 20 year old star left his manager’s house to make a quick trip to a nearby 7-Eleven store and never returned. Nobody has seen him since.

With a full day of meetings ahead of him it is odd that he did not return and Brown’s family, friends, and manager are very concerned for his wellbeing, and have been making calls to hospitals in attempts to find him.

The first Earth Day was held in 1970 on the first day of spring. Although Earth day is celebrated each year, the concept is becoming increasingly popular as the world faces environmental challenges such as extreme weather conditions, including global warming.
