Plus Size Contestant Wins America’s Next Top Model
Whitney Thompson is the winner of America’s Next Top Model. The 20-year-old student from Florida is the first plus-size model to ever win the coveted title of “Top Model.”
The CW Television Network reality show is hosted by Tyra Banks and puts potential supermodels through various difficult modeling related challenges to find out which young woman has what it takes to become “Top Model.”
Each week the judges choose one contestant to eliminate from the competition based on their challenge photographs, performance, and overall attitude.
As the winner of the competition, Whitney Thompson will receive a fashion spread in Seventeen Magazine and a contract with Elite Modeling Management.
She hopes that her size 12 frame will set a new, more realistic standard of beauty for girls struggling with negative self image issues.

Hi Elizabeth!
I was so hoping Whitney would win. What I can’t believe is that they call her plus size! Are they kidding? In her promo picture she is wearing this bikini like dress and she didn’t have any body fat, only curves. I think what they should have said is that it’s the first non anorexic model to ever win!
