McDonald’s restaurants has made the decision to discontinue serving fresh tomatoes due to the risks posed by the recent salmonella outbreak across the United States. People in 16 states have become sick after eating uncooked tomatoes which contained salmonella, 23 were hospitalized.
Even here in Canada McDonald’s has stopped using uncooked tomatoes and has posted written notifications to let customers know of the change.
The FDA is advising those living in the United States to limit their tomato consumption until more information is known on this particular outbreak. You can visit the Centers For Disease Control and Prevention website for tips on how to reduce the risk of contracting salmonella and for important information regarding current tomato recalls.

Oprah Winfrey has decided that her successful new show “Oprah’s Big Give ” will not be continuing on for a second season.
Even though the show where contestants compete to be the most effective giver was an instant hit among viewers and with the ABC Network, Oprah has made the decision to end the show with season one.
Although Oprah Winfrey has not yet stated the reason for the decision publicly, ABC has said that a second season of “Oprah’s Big Give” was something that she didn’t want to do.
Oprah has appeared in several movies and television specials during the years in addition to the “Oprah Winfrey Show ,” but this was her first attempt at a prime time show.

The couple who is been dating for less than a year is said to be thrilled by their engagement but has not yet set an official wedding date.
Ryan Reynolds has been previously linked to singer Alanis Morissette, and has appeared in many hit movies including “The Amityville Horror,”"Blade:Trinity,” and most recently, “Definitely, Maybe.”
Scarlett Johansson has been just as busy with her acting and music career, recently starring in “The Nanny Diaries” and “Boleyn Girl,” and recording album “Anywhere I Lay My Head ” which is due for release on May 20, 2008.
